The city is located in eastern Slovakia, has 270 000 inhabitants and is situated on international road and railway crossroad. A very comfortable way to get to Košice is by air. There are direct lines from Bratislava, Prague and Bratislava. More detailed information can be found on www.csa.cz, www.austrian.com, www.zsr.sk, and www.danubewings.com and www.ryanair.com. Kassa COURSE: Very fast, flat, completely asphalted, traffic free. Two laps through Košice historic city centre and parks. Half Marathon participants run 1 lap. The course is IAAF/AIMS certified and the race is held under the IAAF Rules and Regulations. The 6th IAAF World Half Marathon Championship in 1997 were held on this course as well. . FINISH: Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay Race 4 x 1/4 Marathon – Hlavná street, in front of hotel Doubletree by Hilton Inline skaters (20km), Handbikers (20km), Wheelchairs (20km) – Peace Marathon Place TIME LIMIT: 6 hours, The course will be closed at 3 p.m. The limit for 33rd km is 4,5 hours. AGE LIMIT: Marathon and Half Marathon - 18 years (born in 1992 and before). Participation of In-line skaters younger than 18 years is allowed only for those registered in sport clubs. These competitors have to submit written approval of their legal representative and the relevant sport club. Participation of competitors younger than 16 years is strictly forbidden (excluding Minimarathon). ENTRY FEE AND REGISTRATION: When paid till 31 March 2010 - 30 EUR When paid till 30 June 2010 – 35 EUR When paid till 15 September 2010 - 40 EUR When paid after 15 September 2010 – 50 EUR We kindly ask all runners to use our web site for registration in maximal possible way. Registraton will be considered valid only upon evidence of payment of the Entry fee. The copy of the payment receipt will be required on the presentation in Košice (excluding payments by credit card). The amount of payment is determined by date of the money transfer. It will not be possible to pay by credit card during presentation. The Entry fee is non-returnable. HOW TO PAY THE ENTRY FEE: 1. Bank transfer - Do not pay by bank transfer after 15 September 2010! 2. Credit card: fill in carefully all the details required in the Entry form! 3. After 15 september, only cash during presentation in Košice. Inline skaters must wear a helmet! Organizers are not responsible for any damages of the property or injuries associated with travel to/from and stay in the Košice City or the participation in the event itself. PRESENTATION AND BIB NUMBER PICK UP: 1 October, 2010 (Friday) 1 p.m. - 8 p.m 2 October, 2010 (Saturday) 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. There will be no registration and bib or chip pick up on the race day (3 October 2010). CATEGORIES: Marathon: Men Women M (men main category) W (women main category) M40 1970 - 19610 W40 1970 - 1961 M50 1960 - 1951 W50 1960 - 1951 M60 1950 - 1941 W60 1950 and older M70 1940 and older Half Marathon, In-line skaters 20 km, handbikers and wheelchairs 20 km: M, W, without age categories Relay Race 4 x 1/4 Marathon: without categories Minimarathon 4,2 km: M, W, without age limits SLOVAK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Part of the 87th Kosice Peace Marathon will be the Slovak national championships in marathon organized in cooperation with the Slovak Athletic Federation. Instructions for this event will be published on our website. PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be given to the first 10 men and 6 women in the main category and first 3 of each other category listed above, on condition, that at least three competitors will start in the given category. ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Bib number, chip, T-shirt, bag, AIMS magazine, bulletin, ticket to the Pasta Party (Saturday 2 October 2010). Runners will receive a medal (after completing the race within time limit). Certificate and results (only in electronic form available on www.kosicemarathon.com for download). BIB NUMBER WITH THE PARTICIPANT’S NAME: All participants who registere for KPM and pay the entry fee till 31 August 2010, will receive a bib number with their name and with a flag of their country on it. SPECIAL OFFERS: In cooperation with Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a.s. a discount will be offered to all participants of the Košice Peace Marathon travelling by train to and from Košice. The discount is valid only on Slovak domestic railways. Conditions of the discount will be published on our website. Every participant of the Košice Peace Marathon obtains on the presentation a free pass for the city public transit and free entrance to selected museums and galleries, valid from Fri 1 Oct to Sun 3 Oct, 2010. TIMING: Time will be measured by ChampionChip. All runners must have a chip attached to their shoelaces. Runners will receive one together with their start number upon payment of a 5 € deposit. Deposit will be given back to the runner after he/she returns the chip in the finish area, immediately after completing the race. YOUR TIME WILL NOT BE MEASURED WITHOUT THE CHIP!!! CLOAK ROAMS: Cloak rooms are located iin the indoor swimming pool (Krytá plaváreň, Protifašistických bojovníkov 4, Košice, 500 m from the KPM start). Place your belongings into a plastic bag, mark the bag with your bib number and place it in a locker marked with your bib number. On request, personnel of the swimming pool will deposit the valuables of the runners in the safe deposit box. Organizers are not responsible for any lost or stolen belongings. REFRESHMENT STATIONS: Based on the structure of the course (2 x 21 km), refreshment stations are situated as follows: 5,1 km, 9,9 km, 15,1 km, 20,1 km, 26,2 km, 31 km, 36,2 km, 41,2 km. Sponging stations with water in plastic glasses will be located between the refreshment stations. Do not throw empty bottles and glasses down the middle of the road; it may cause injuries to competitors running behind you. Every finisher will receive a refreshment pack and beverages. MEDICAL CARE: Medical care will be provided by the Rescue service of Košice in the Start and Finish area as well as all along the course. ACCOMMODATION: Information on hotels in Košice can be found on www.kosice.sk. Accommodation will be provided in a hostel to those who requested it no later then 31 august 2010(see Entry form). Accommodation fee should be paid to the hostel after arrival and registration, in accordance with current prices. WE THINK ABOUT DEVOTED MARATHON RUNNERS: Every runner who ran at least 10 marathons in Kosice during years 1989 – 2009, in case of registration and payment of entry fee until 31 August 2010, will pay only 20 EUR. List of runners entitled to the discount will be published on our website. On occasion of 30th anniversary from the first start of women on marathon in Kosice, all women, who will choose on KPM 2010 the marathon category, and register and pay the entry fee till 31 August 2010, will pay only 20 EUR. JUNIOR RELAY RACE – CHrista Vahlensieck A group of students will run during the Kosice Peace Marathon a relay race 42x1km, on occasion of the 30th anniversary from the first start of women on the KPM in 1980 and to the honor of a five times winner of Kosice Peace Marathon in women’s category – Christa Vahlensieck. MINIMARATHON: On Sunday 3 October 2010 there will also start a very popular 4,2 km long minimarathon. More information on this non competitive run can be found on our website. HALFMARATHON KOŠICE – SEŇA: This year the organizers are preparing by now the 8th Half Marathon from Košice to Seňa, which is going to be held on Saturday 19 June 2010. Come and run on the course on which for long years the Košice Peace Marathon was held. |
