| Leírás | 29. FIRENZE MARATHON Sunday, 25th November 2012, is the date of the 2012 edition of the international classic road race, the 29th Florence Marathon. Step by step all along its 42 kilometers and 195 meters you are surrounded by centuries of art, history and culture, a unique emotion that can only be experienced by those who run in Florence. Year after year, thousands of sportspeople and enthusiasts from all over the world come to participate in this classic race on the last Sunday in November. This great event in Florence has increased immeasurably recently so much so that we expect more than 10.500 participants in 2012. This extraordinary increase in participation also testifies to the constant attention given to the organization of the race. Florence Marathon is now the second Italian marathon (after Rome), and among the 20 most important marathons in the world. The route takes you by all those landmarks of singular beauty that have made Florence famous worldwide: views over the enchanting hills and countryside, and passing right by the Cathedral Square, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio (to mention only just a few of historical importance), before entering the majestic Piazza Santa Croce. The road is entirely asphalted and ramp-free, except for the short, slightly sloping stretch of road at the start, and these characteristics make it a particularly fast route appreciated by runners. Distribution of start numbers and kits Start numbers must be collected personally on Friday 23th and Saturday 24th November 2012 from 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Firenze Marathon Expo, situated in the Athletic Stadium Luigi Ridolfi indoor structure and the Military Stadium, entrance on Viale Malta 10, in the Campo di Marte zone of Florence. Athletes should produce an ID card, the confirmation letter, the original membership card or the valid medical certificate of fitness for competitive sports and any missing documentation. Kits Athletes enrolled in the Marathon will receive an official kit containing ASICS technical material and other promotional materials. Kits can be picked up from the appointed stand of the Marathon Expo after collecting race numbers. Results will be sent via sms and e-mail Participants will receive their recorded time by sms and e-mail. Cloakroom Service The cloakroom service will be located at the Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia in the apposite spaces divided in different groups corresponding to start numbers (available from 7.00 a.m.). Only bags provided by the Organization, and marked with the appropriate adhesive of your start bib number, will be accepted. Bags handed in will be deposited in the dedicated area by our personnel. The cloakroom area must not be used as a changing room. Do not leave any valuables in the cloakroom area as the Organization cannot accept responsibility in case of theft. We advise you to put on old clothes (that can be discarded before the start) on top of those in which you will run. The Organization will supply a plastic material mantle for protection in case of rain or high wind. Changing rooms Gazebos fitted out as changing rooms are available at Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, near the cloakroom area from 7.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. Refreshment Points Refreshment Points are situated every 5 kms. Water, tea, salts, lemons are available, and as from km 10 the above plus fruit, and as from km 25 the above plus a slice of tart. The first two tables of each refreshment point are personalized and reserved for top athletes. Sponge stations Sponge stations are located from km 7.5 every 5 kms (at km 12,5, km 17,5, km 22,5, km 27,5, km 32,5, km 37,5). WC WC are located in the departure area, in the arrival area, in the cloakroom area, and at refreshment points. Assistance to athletes who withdraw A bus service will be available for athletes who withdraw to take them to the cloakroom and changing room service at Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia. Services available in the arrival area At the end of the race in the arrival area there will be medical care stations with doctors and personnel specialized in first aid supplied by Misericordie and ANPAS. Along a signposted route athletes will be given a refreshment bag for immediate consumption before reaching the main refreshment area supplying hot and cold drinks, fruit and salts. Relax area, changing rooms, massage An area entirely dedicated to relaxation with changing rooms, massage and wc on Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, near the cloakroom service. Prize awards On the podium: the first 3 men and the first 3 women to finish the Marathon will receive awards. Also athletes in the Handbike, Wheelchair, Tetraplegic and Paraplegic categories Medals All athletes finishing the Marathon will receive the official medal of the Florence Marathon immediately at the conclusion of the race in the arrival area.
